After we survived having twin toddlers, we got the idea we wanted to renovate an old house. We started looking at neglected houses in neighborhoods we liked and dreamed about how beautiful we could make them. One house stood out and we were planning to purchase it, but it went to another seller.

I was so sad. I wondered how any other house could compare with the potential we saw in that one. People told me God had something better and I wanted to believe it, but I couldn’t see how because that one was SO NICE.

Well, they were right. One day, I was driving down one of my favorite streets and saw a house for sale. It was exactly where we wanted to be and had qualities the other house hadn’t had, like a perfect foundation. Many times, I’ve felt thankful the other house didn’t work out.

If it seems like the way just evaporated in front of you, He has another, better way.

When God puts a dream in our hearts, He will make a way. And if it seems like the way just evaporated in front of you, He has another, better way. I hold this experience close to my heart in times when I can’t find my way or the way I wanted to go is blocked. He will never leave us or forsake us and He promised to finish the work He’s begun in us. He will care for us and walk with us, no matter how many difficulties we face.

For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”
Hebrews 13:5
