During the month of November, we’ll be featuring several stories of Union College students who are being empowered to lead. Senior nursing major Joe Hofmann, who is also working toward minors in leadership and psychology, as well as an associate degree in Pre-Allied Health, is one such student.

For a freshman year class project designed to give students management experience, Hofmann chose to spearhead a campus-wide recycling effort. Now a senior, his project is saving the college 35 tons of trash each month.
