Dr. Donald L. Jernigan, age 71, has announced that he will retire from his position of president/CEO of Adventist Health System, and transition to a faculty role at the Adventist Health System Leadership Institute in December 2016.

Jernigan has served as president/CEO of Adventist Health System since 2006, where through his leadership the health care system has experienced a steady nine percent net revenue growth over the last ten years, and expanded from 37 to 46 hospital campuses nationwide.

“Under Don’s leadership, Adventist Health System has grown in every way,” said Adventist Health System’s Board Chairman Don Livesay.

The Board will elect a new president/CEO on Dec. 8.
