O God our help in ages past
Our hope for years to come
A shelter from the stormy blast
And our eternal home!

Under the shadow of Thy throne
Still we may dwell secure;
Sufficient is Thine arm alone
And our defense is sure

O God, our help in ages past
Our hope for years to come
Be Thou our guide while life shall last
And our eternal home!

By Isaac Watts, 1719

In every age a need for hope
and assurances of
protection
guidance
and real daily help
Rings in the hearts of God’s own.

With concerted effort
We remember
How He has led us in the past;
A shield against much fear.

As bad as it may get
– Here –
We hold tight to
The Promise.
“I will come again,”
He spoke to comfort us.

When all is made
Brand new
We will be where we
Belong.

Forever safe
From any trace
Of sin
Nor stain of blame.

We have said
Forever “yes!”
To God and God alone.

We will know
So many there.
Our Lord has promised treasures
– Of the people kind –
Whose lives we loved for Him.

Your golden crown is
Heavy.
Ladened with the finest gems.
Jesus smiles and says “Well done.”

We cannot help but look around…
We shimmer with Love’s joy.
We’re here at last.
Dark Earth has passed.
Our Lord stands conqueror!

We lift our crowns,
and lay them right in front,
at Jesus’ feet.

Those feet walked on our dusty streets
And felt a deadly stake.
We see how far Love went
To bring us Home for good.

Look at His kindly eyes!
So bright —
They glisten.
He knows the path we took.
He walked beside us all the way
And fed us through His Book.

The trials of then
Begin to fade.
“Worth it all,” we say with
Hands clasped.
Our joy is complete.
We are forever Home!
