The Mid-America Union was saddened to learn that a staff member from Broken Arrow Ranch died last week due to an auto accident near the summer camp. Owen Uhrmacer was a religion education major who graduated from Union College in May of 2021.

Tim Floyd, Youth/Young Adult director for Kansas-Nebraska Conference and BAR director, shared, “It is with great sadness that I inform you that one of our Broken Arrow Ranch long time and greatly loved staff members was killed in an automobile accident while on his day off yesterday morning. Owen was our Boys Director this year, but he has served as a counselor and activity staff for a number of years. He was one of the finest humans I know; it is a tragic loss to our camp family. In response to this tragedy we brought in some extra pastors and provided a space for campers and staff to process the news last night after campfire. We have a grief counselor that will be available this afternoon and throughout the weekend to help our staff and campers who may have a desire to talk to a professional about this or any other memories that may have surfaced as a result. I ask for your prayers as we continue to serve our campers and families the remainder of this summer.”

Please continue to remember his loved ones in your prayers. Memorial gifts can be made to the Owen Uhrmacher Memorial Fund at Midland Adventist Academy to benefit Midland graduates preparing to attend Union College.
