“We are creating a more connected neuroscience program that supports patients across the full continuum of care,” said Weston Elder, executive director of neuroscience at AdventHealth Shawnee Mission. “Our teams combine clinical expertise with minimally invasive technology and advanced treatment options to help patients achieve the best possible outcomes.”

AdventHealth has continued to expand neuroscience services across Johnson County, including a fourth location for AdventHealth Pain Specialists at Lenexa City Center, two new AdventHealth Medical Group Neurology practices in South Overland Park and Lenexa City Center and a dedicated inpatient Epilepsy Monitoring Unit at AdventHealth Shawnee Mission.

Comprehensive stroke care and endovascular therapy services are expected to be added this fall.

“Our neuroscience program has grown rapidly, bringing together a highly specialized team of neurosurgeons, neurologists, interventional pain management physicians and advanced practice providers,” said Jayson Neil, MD, FAANS, FCNS, board-certified neurosurgeon and fellowship-trained in spine and skull base surgery. Dr. Neil also serves as medical director of the AdventHealth Neuroscience Institute. “We continue to invest in recruiting leading specialists and expanding services to meet the growing needs of our communities.”
