“I found a bed on craigslist, it’s brand new in the wrapping!”

I’m so excited to find a bed. As newlyweds, since our marriage in June, we’ve had to sleep separate—my husband on the floor and me on a small blowup mattress that deflates. Maybe tmi, but it’s the truth. We’re young and starting out our marriage still in college, it happens. But to have a Queen size bed! Sigh. Relief is near.

I text who I hope is not a Craigslist killer and find out it’s still there and ready to go. We arrange for tomorrow. Mark asks, “See if she goes to Walla Walla University too. Maybe she lives nearby.”

I text her and hear back.

“Good guess, she does and it’s only 4 blocks away!”

Scrolling through more adds I notice that there are more beds that are cheaper, slightly, but for some reason it doesn’t matter to me. I’ve found the one I want.

She asks if I’d like a microwave, shoe rack, lamp and a couple other items. I ask how much, she says “$30.” Everything she named off is exactly what we’re looking for on our list. Amazing! And for only $30?

Arriving at her apartment, I meet Silvia. She’s moving out by Sunday and has to get rid of a lot of stuff. There’s no way for her to take it. Plus, I guess her parents have all she needs back at home.

“Would you like this too?” She points to an end table, also on the list.

“Sure, how much?” I ask.

“I’ll just give it to you. I need to get rid of a lot of stuff.”

“Would you like this too?” She points to a mirror, also on the list.

“Sure!”

She continues to bring things to me and ask if I want it. We end up with two car loads of lamps, tables, a grill, bookshelf, and the list goes on—all on my list or in my dreams.

As I look around my apartment now, it amazes me at how God has filled it for us with what we need, and enjoy. One thing  I know, is that moving here to Washington and being faithful to that path from God, with no jobs or plans but college, that he has been faithful to provide and answer our every call to him. All we have to do is give our needs and desires over to Him to take care of. He is more than able. After all, he does own the universe.

“Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.” Matthew 6:31-34
