Over the past five years, the multilingual ministries department has intentionally focused on strengthening the foundation of our work while preparing for sustainable growth across our six conferences. Serving diverse communities—including Hispanic, Brazilian, African, Asian-Pacific, and refugee populations—our mission has been to build unity in diversity while advancing the gospel in culturally relevant and effective ways.
A CLEAR FOCUS
Our primary focus during these five years was not simply numerical growth, but intentional preparation for growth.
We recognized early that healthy expansion requires a strong foundation.
Therefore, we invested in leadership development, organizational strengthening, and discipleship systems that would sustain long term impact.
Across our six conferences, we worked to move ministries from informal or loosely structured groups into more established, mission-driven congregations. This included equipping pastors and lay leaders through training, mentorship and ongoing support. Our goal was to empower local leadership—leaders who understand the language, culture and unique needs of their communities.
Another key focus was integration. Multilingual ministries are most effective when they are not isolated, but fully connected to the broader mission of the church. We worked closely with conference leadership to ensure alignment in vision, strategy and resource distribution. This collaboration strengthened the overall mission and fostered a greater sense of unity across the territory.
Additionally, we emphasized discipleship as the core of growth. Evangelism is not complete until new believers are nurtured, equipped and sent to reach others. Through small groups, Bible studies, and intentional follow-up, we encouraged all members to see themselves as a missionary.
LESSONS LEARNED
One of the most important lessons we learned is that healthy growth is built from within.
Programs alone do not transform communities—people do.
When local leaders are empowered, trained and trusted, ministry becomes more authentic, sustainable and impactful.
We also learned that diversity is a strength, not a barrier. While language and cultural differences can present challenges, they also provide unique opportunities to reach people groups that might otherwise remain untouched.
Each culture brings gifts that enrich the church as a whole.
When we embrace this diversity, we reflect more fully the vision of God’s kingdom.
Another key lesson has been the importance of flexibility and contextualization. A one-size-fits-all approach does not work in multicultural ministry. Each community requires thoughtful, prayerful adaptation. Listening became one of our most important tools. Listening to leaders, members and communities helped us respond more effectively.
We also learned the value of collaboration. When conferences share resources, ideas and vision, the impact multiplies. Ministry is not meant to be done in isolation. Unity across conferences has proven to be one of our greatest strengths.
Finally, we were reminded that spiritual growth must precede numerical growth.
Without a strong spiritual foundation—prayer, commitment and dependence on God—any growth will be temporary.
True transformation begins in the heart.
THANKFUL FOR MANY BLESSINGS
We are deeply thankful for God’s faithfulness over these past five years. Despite challenges, uncertainties and changing contexts, He has guided and sustained the work.
We are especially grateful for the leaders—pastors, elders and lay members—who have faithfully served their communities. Their dedication, often under challenging circumstances, has made all the difference. Many of them serve across cultural and linguistic barriers with passion and commitment, embodying the mission of Christ.
We are also thankful for the spirit of unity that has grown across our six conferences.
Collaboration has increased, communication has improved, and there is a shared sense that we are part of something larger than ourselves.
By God’s grace, we have seen approximately a 10 percent growth in both tithe and membership during this period. While numbers do not define success, they do reflect the faithfulness of God’s people and the impact of intentional ministry. Behind these numbers are lives changed, families restored, and individuals who have come to know Christ.
We are grateful for the opportunity to serve diverse communities. Each culture, language and background reminds us of the beauty of God’s kingdom. It is a privilege to witness how the gospel speaks powerfully in every context.
Above all, we are thankful that this is God’s work. He is the One who brings growth, transforms lives, and opens doors. We simply have the privilege of participating in His mission.
LOOKING FORWARD WITH FAITH
As we look ahead, we are filled with hope and anticipation. The next five years present incredible opportunities to continue building on what has been established.
We look forward to developing new leaders.
The future of multicultural ministry depends on leaders who are called, trained and empowered.
Investing in the next generation will remain a top priority.
We are also excited about expanding into new areas. Demographic trends show continued growth in multicultural populations, especially in urban centers. We want to be intentional in planting new groups and congregations where the need is greatest.
Another key focus moving forward is deepening discipleship. Growth must not only be broader, but deeper. We want to see members who are not only attending but actively engaged in mission, grounded in faith, and committed to sharing the gospel.
We also look forward to greater collaboration at every level—local churches, conferences, unions and the division.
When we work together, the possibilities expand significantly.
Finally, we look forward with faith, trusting that God will continue to lead. The mission remains urgent, and the opportunities are vast. With a strong foundation, a clear vision, and dependence on God, we are prepared to move forward. As we continue this journey, our commitment remains unchanged—to reach all people, in all languages, with the hope of the gospel. And by God’s grace, we look forward to what He will do next.
