AdventLabs is a company with a small team of four like-minded individuals who have a goal to use technology to empower ministry. We believe God gave us our talents and abilities for a purpose, and we want to use those to glorify Him.

About six months ago, we had a church in Hendersonville, NC reach out to us wanting an application that would help them connect with their members and serve as a simple platform for sharing church information. We realized that if one church had a desire for an application like this, they surely weren’t the only ones. We set out to design an application that was incredibly easy to use and open to any Adventist church.

Asamblea is that application.

Within the application, churches can easily provide a profile containing their address, phone number, worship times, mission statement, and even link their social media. We also provide a way for churches to link their live stream, website, and online giving portals. Leadership profiles can be displayed as well making it easy for members or guests to get in contact with a leader in the church. Other features include a calendar with phone notifications so churches can easily remind their members of events, or quickly send out a notification of a cancellation, as well as a place to upload the weekly bulletin or sermon notes so that members can follow along from home, or skip out on the paper copy! All these details are publicly available meaning guests or non-members can still connect with a local church or find events where they can engage with other Adventists.

Now if a member of a church joins the app, they can also request to join one or several churches. Upon being approved by that church they will have access to the Church Directory. This means members can update their own contact information as well as their photo, and churches no longer have to deal with updating a PDF or paperback book, nor do they have to send out a new copy every time it’s updated. All member information is secure and the data is not shared, except with the church.

Originally we thought the value of this application was just for a church and their respective members, however we quickly realized that there is strength in numbers. We believe that the more churches and the more people using Asamblea, the more we can do to connect and engage as a denomination. As a regular attendee, imagine traveling to a new city and trying to find a church to visit. You could use Asamblea to quickly view all the churches within a certain distance, see their worship times, get directions, and view any events they might be hosting. As a traveling ministry, you could easily look up a church you will be visiting, get in contact with their secretary to add an excerpt in their bulletin. As a church, events could be opened up and advertised to the members of surrounding churches, increasing the turnout and giving people an opportunity to network and engage with their brothers and sisters.

We believe the possibilities are endless and as a new company and a new application we are excited to continue adding new features and capabilities to Asamblea. Our goal is not to replace a churches website or their own application, but to provide the option for churches who do not have one and to be an extra tool for the churches that do. We hope to get as many people and churches using Asamblea as possible so that we can begin connecting people and showing the power of technology in the Adventist community.
