God often prepares us for something long before we realize it. For Delores Mishleau, a member of the Piedmont Park Seventh-day Adventist Church in Lincoln, Nebraska, that preparation has taken the form of a new cookbook—and now a television program that will share her message of health and faith with viewers across the country.
On February 18, 2026, Delores’s one-hour cooking program based on her cookbook, Created to Nourish: Plant-Based Gluten-Free Recipes, Soy-Free Options, will air on 3ABN at 8 a.m., 3 p.m., and 8 p.m. CST. Viewers can watch by visiting www.3abn.org and selecting “3ABN Live,” or later by searching YouTube for the 3ABN cooking show and her name.
Her cookbook reflects a journey that began with her own personal health and a quiet prompting she believes came from God.
“About four years ago, God gave me the nudge to try going plant-based, and it made such a big difference in my own personal life,” Delores said. “I knew I was going to need to eat this way for the rest of my life. I was terrified. I didn’t know what to eat. What could I eat?”
What began as uncertainty soon became purpose. Delores said God helped her rethink the recipes she already knew and loved.
“God empowered me to take the recipes I already knew and to transform them into being gluten free,” she said.
“Today we have a cookbook that is so tasty that even if you are not gluten free yourself, you won’t miss the gluten. All of our recipes are also plant-based, no refined sugars, and super tasty.”
The process of creating the cookbook brought challenges, including financial obstacles and delays. Still, Mishleau remained committed to finishing what she believed God had called her to do.
“Faith in God’s call to create this cookbook kept me focused in completing this project,” she said.
“Several friends were and still are prayer warriors over my book.”
Her son, Benjamin, and his wife, Myla, also played an important role, helping prepare the text, photograph the food, and share ideas for distribution. Their support, along with the encouragement of others, helped bring the project to completion.
Delores’s passion for healthy living began long before the cookbook. Her parents and grandparents taught her how to grow organic food, preserve it, and share it with others. Over the years, she learned to cook without dairy or eggs, and eventually adopted a gluten-free lifestyle after experiencing its health benefits firsthand.
“Eating plant-based and now gluten free has blessed me and our family with health, strength, and the opportunities to bless many lives,” she said.
Created to Nourish was written for people seeking both health and hope. The recipes are simple and practical, designed for busy individuals and families, especially those with gluten sensitivities or dietary restrictions. Each recipe is paired with Bible promises, reflecting her belief that caring for the body is part of honoring God.
“My biggest hope and prayer for this book is that people will learn that God is their Creator, their Dietician, and their soon coming King,” she said.
What began as a personal health decision has now become a ministry—one that is reaching beyond her kitchen to television screens and homes across the country.
