For eight evenings last May the Fargo Seventh-day Adventist Church in North Dakota hosted an evangelism series with Roger and Kathy Hernandez. Each night the couple shared practical, gospel-centered messages on topics such as marriage, mental health, procrastination, Sabbath, the second coming and the cross.

Nearly 30 members of the Fargo church served on the support team, assisting with registration, hospitality, meals and children’s programming. Advertising for the series was accomplished through Facebook, where guests could register to attend and receive practical gifts such as food and gas cards, diapers and certificates for shoes or car repairs.

Each evening began with a light meal for guests and volunteers, while children participated in a Vacation Bible School held in an adjacent room. Over 120 guests attended throughout the week, many returning night after night.

As a result of the meetings, 25 individuals renewed their relationship with God, and 13 were baptized—seven of whom now attend Sabbath worship regularly. Most of those baptized were young adults who chose to publicly commit their lives to Christ.

The Fargo congregation described the series as “a wonderfully positive experience” and expressed enthusiasm about hosting similar outreach events in the future.
